PEER REVIEW POLICY

  1. Introduction

Glasnik SED is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, integrity, and transparency. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure that published work meets international scholarly standards.

This policy outlines the principles, procedures, and ethical guidelines governing the peer review process.

  1. Peer Review Model

Glasnik SED employs a double-blind peer review system, meaning:

  • Reviewers do not know the identity of authors.
  • Authors do not know the identity of reviewers.
  • All identifying information is removed prior to review.

This ensures fairness, objectivity, and impartial evaluation.

  1. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Section Editor for:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Originality and significance
  • Compliance with formatting and submission guidelines
  • Ethical integrity (including plagiarism checks)

Manuscripts failing to meet basic criteria may be rejected without external review.

  1. Assignment of Reviewers

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on:

  • Subject expertise
  • Absence of conflicts of interest
  • Prior reviewing experience and academic credentials

Occasionally, additional reviewers or statistical/methodological experts may be invited.

  1. Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts according to the following criteria:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Theoretical and methodological rigor
  • Clarity, coherence, and organization of the manuscript
  • Validity and reliability of results or arguments
  • Appropriate referencing and use of academic standards
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

Reviewers provide a detailed report and recommend one of the following:

  4. Reject
  1. Revision Process

If revisions are required, authors must:

  • Address each reviewer comment thoroughly
  • Submit a revised manuscript
  • Provide a point-by-point response document

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers to ensure that concerns have been addressed satisfactorily.

  1. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of manuscript content
  • Disclose any conflict of interest
  • Report suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical issues
  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit
  1. Editorial Decision Making

The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or delegated Section Editor, taking into account:

  • Reviewers’ recommendations
  • Quality of revisions submitted
  • Journal standards and strategic considerations

Editorial decisions are final.

  1. Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts and reviewer reports are treated as confidential documents. Information will not be shared beyond the editorial team and assigned reviewers.
